Flickr have announced that from today everyone can upload videos to flickr – a feature which before now, was limited to those only with a pro account.
This does come with some limitations
- only 2 videos can be uploaded per month
- Videos are limited to 90 seconds or 150mb in filesize.
Flickr are trying “something new” as it’s trying to push people towards using the feature to upload a “long photo”. Whilst an interesting idea people are still going to upload random rubbish (but then again the same exists on YouTube and we have learnt to ignore it)
So what about Flickr video for SEO.It can be used as another video syndication site to allow more people to find your video (a short one!) and visability of the video and brand is always a good thing (as long as the content is positive towards the brand!) but what we will see is how useful it is compared to other video sites after a couple of months and if it is worthwile including Flickr video in your video syndication plans.
