So Facebook Lite is now public and anyone with a facebook account can log in and try it out. So what exactly is Facebook Lite?
Well it’s like stepping back in time back to around 2005 when Facebook was mostly used by Students and it only had basic features like posting comments on peoples wall’s and uploading photo’s. I really liked facebook back then, it wasn’t cluttered like MySpace was but then Facebook expanded, introduced apps and all sorts of things that allowed people to make a mess of their profile page, it was MySpace 2.0.
So what can Facebook Lite do. Well pretty much post comments on walls, and upload photos. Nice and simple
So do I like it? Nope
Yeah it’s good that it’s back to the good ol days but there is still the normal facebook with all it’s extra features which people will want to use. No one wants to use two sites to do the same thing!
Even for someone like me who uses the very basic features of Facebook is not going to use Lite its pointless… its redundant… I personally wouldn’t even say its a good idea. its like they looked at Twitter and how simple that is and thought “let’s do that”. A selling point is that Lite is quicker, which it could well be, but for those on a broadband connection it doesn’t matter.
In fact there are parts which are worse. on the current site peoples profile pages have a bar on the left which has the basic details for that person, on like you have to click onto a separate page to see anything about that person.
Sorry Facebook I think your community is just going to stick with your main site. I know your going to be very sad about that.
